About Justine
I didn’t realise until I gave birth to my first child that trauma from my past would resurface in the way it did, and that I would need trauma informed support for my future pregnancies and births. I how have three children, and each birth has shown to me the importance of communicating my needs clearly with my birth team.
Seeing that there was a gap in support for trauma survivors, I decided to leave academia, where I had a Ph.D. focussing on trauma, sexual violence, and consent, and start my own business supporting survivors giving birth. I retrained as a childbirth educator and co-founded my first company Resilient Birth in the United States with a dear friend of mine. This company has been offering trauma informed childbirth education and Birth Support Planning to survivors since 2019.
In 2021, I moved back to Scotland after living 8 years in the US and had my most recent baby at home in Edinburgh. And I have now created Trauma Informed Birth to serve families here in the UK.
I offer survivors Perinatal Coaching throughout your perinatal journey from trying to conceive through to postnatal adjustment and Birth Support Planning in which we put into place the support you need to feel less afraid of childbirth.
